This emu is a little bewildered with the cute handful he has been left to entertain.

When a female emu has laid her eggs, she abandons them and the male incubates them for up to eight weeks. He loses a lot of weight during that time because he stays on the nest. Emu chicks stick closely to dad for up to six months until they are old enough  to forage and survive on their own.

Prints are printed on 310gsm print version of watercolour paper with archival inks.  The texture of the paper and quality of inks used often generates the 'is this an original?' question.

All my paintings are copyrighted. They are not available for reproduction in any manner without permission from the artist, Patricia Hopwood-Wade (pjpaintings@gmail.com).
